NeuropsychologyLAB

Research

In the Neuropsychology Lab at MSU, we do studies in cognitive and developmental neuropsychology, especially the development of lateralization of function as shown in asymmetries in hand use and attention, and the psychological correlates of individual differences in lateralization of function.

We also study how evolution may have shaped cognition to enhance mate choice and infant care. Our research on mate choice asks whether and how facial symmetry and symmetrical facial decoration, of the kind typical in traditional societies, might enhance facial attractiveness. Our research on infant care focuses on understanding individual, especially sex-related, differences in adults' reactions to infants as reflected in how they hold and interact with them. In both lines of work, we use a variety of cognitive and neuropsychological methods.
